BEFORE & AFTER: Botox treatments reduced deep wrinkles while CO2 treatment improved overall skin health. Pictured above is a client of the Cosmetic Surgery Center.

Many wrinkles are actually creases that have been worn into the skin by making the same expression thousands of times. These “expression lines”, often called frown lines or crow’s feet, are due to the contraction of a muscle under the skin in that area. When BOTOX® is injected into the muscle, it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, and as a result the muscle weakens. As the muscle weakens, the overlying skin relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear.

BOTOX® erases frown lines in the forehead, unfurrows the eyebrows (glabella), and removes crow’s feet. Treatments take only a few minutes, but results last three to six months. Treatments can be repeated as often as necessary. BOTOX® is FDA approved for wrinkle removal.

How does BOTOX® work? Using a very tiny needle, the physician injects BOTOX® into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. BOTOX® doesn’t affect the nerve, so there is no numbness in the area of the injection. Also, the effect of the BOTOX® is only in the immediate area of the injection. Therefore, the muscles related to other expressions are unaffected.

Patients are amazed at how easily and quickly scowl lines and crow’s feet disappear, creating a dramatic change in appearance. The result is a more youthful, pleasant appearance.

Botox® injections are administered by Dr. Clifton Smith and Dr. John Roth. Dr. Smith is the National Trainer in this area for other doctors learning about Botox.
