Doppler Studies
We provide Ultrasound/Doppler studies for the evaluation of varicose veins. This is a non-invasive study to evaluate the Greater Saphenous and Lesser Saphenous vessels in the legs. Ultrasound is used to venous reflux disease and venous insufficiency, which is mal-functioning valves in the leg veins. Venous reflux allows blood to pool and/or back up in the vessel causing abnormal blood flow in the vessels causing large tortuous vessels. This can cause aching, heaviness, tiredness, swelling, color changes in the legs, ulcers and stasis dermatitis in the legs. Ultrasound examination is often covered by most insurance carriers.
VNUS Closure
VNUS closure is a minimally-invasive outpatient alternative to traditional varicose vein stripping surgery. The procedure utilizes radio frequency (RF) energy to heat the inside of the greater saphenous vein (GSV) in the legs, causing it to collapse and seal shut. During the procedure your doctor inserts a tiny catheter with an electrode tip through one or two small puncture sites in the affected vein. Once in place, RF energy is delivered to the vein wall. Gradually the catheter is withdrawn, sealing the vein along the way. The VNUS procedure closes veins and virtually eliminates reflux and unsightly varicose veins. Usually no sutures are required. After surgery you will need to be up walking and to wear medical compression stockings. Patients will be able to resume normal activities the next day. Relief from symptoms is immediate.
Phlebectomy
A method of surgical removal of surface varicose veins through tiny incisions made in the skin along the treated vein. Incisions are so tiny that stitches are generally not necessary. This procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and has few complications. Phlebectomy is often recommended in conjunction with sclerotherapy or endovenous laser ablation. It can minimize the side effects of sclerotherapy and enhance your results.
Sclerotherapy
An excellent, safe, non-surgical way to treat spider veins, it involves a series of relatively painless injections of a solution into the abnormal vein in order to make the vein shrink. The solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to virtually disappear within weeks. Normal activities can be resumed right away. You will have to wear medical compression stocking for two weeks.
